Superjunctions can appear in the power-conversion ecosystem around the vehicle even when the traction inverter itself uses a different device technology.
On-board charger
AC input is rectified and power-factor corrected before isolation and DC conversion. 600–650 V SJ devices can be relevant in silicon-based PFC stages.
DC fast charging
Station-side conversion can contain multiple high-voltage stages. Efficiency, thermal density and serviceability become system-level constraints.
Auxiliary power
Low-voltage conversion for vehicle electronics can use low-voltage superjunction/trench technologies depending on current and switching requirements.
Design note
Do not assume that a technology used in an EV charger automatically belongs in the vehicle traction inverter. Voltage class, topology, isolation and switching frequency can change the device choice completely.
